Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, tablet, or smartphone) when you visit a website. Cookies allow the website to remember your actions and preferences for a certain period of time, so you don't have to re-enter them every time you return to the site or browse from one page to another.

2. How We Use Cookies

We use cookies to provide, protect, and improve our services. By default we only load essential cookies; if you accept the consent banner we additionally load analytics cookies (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity). We do not use marketing cookies.

For detailed information about personal data processing, please see our Privacy Policy.

3. Types of Cookies We Use

3.1 Essential Cookies (Strictly Necessary)

These cookies are essential for the website to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. They are usually only set in response to actions made by you which amount to a request for services, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling in forms.

Legal basis: These cookies are necessary for the performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and to ensure service security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR - legitimate interest). Consent is not required for these cookies.

3.2 Non-Essential Cookies (analytics)

If you accept cookies in our consent banner, we additionally load Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. These set their own cookies for traffic measurement and session-replay analytics respectively. You can change or withdraw consent at any time from the cookie banner.

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies.

Note: Ahrefs Analytics is a cookieless SEO/site-audit script we load on all visits — it does not set cookies on your device but does forward your IP to Ahrefs for traffic measurement (see Privacy Policy §2.5).

4. Third-Party Cookies

In addition to the analytics cookies described above (only after consent), our service providers may use technical cookies necessary for their services to function:

4.1 Stripe (Payments)

When you make a payment, Stripe may use technical cookies necessary to process the transaction. These cookies are managed by Stripe in accordance with their Privacy Policy.

4.2 Cloudflare (CDN and Security)

Our website uses Cloudflare as a CDN and for security protection. Cloudflare may set technical cookies (such as __cf_bm) to distinguish human traffic from bots and protect against DDoS attacks. These cookies are managed by Cloudflare in accordance with their Privacy Policy.

5. Cookie Duration

  • Session cookies: are automatically deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies: remain on your device for a specified period or until you manually delete them.

We currently only use session cookies that are deleted when you close your browser.

6. Local Storage (localStorage)

In addition to cookies, we use browser localStorage to store non-sensitive preferences:

  • Language preference: your selected interface language
  • Interface preferences: state of UI elements (e.g., activation checklist)
  • Chrome Extension preferences: settings such as theme, prep cost, and fulfillment mode

localStorage data remains in your browser and is not sent to our servers. You can clear it at any time from your browser settings.

7. How to Manage Cookies

You have control over cookies. You can manage or delete cookies as you prefer. However, please note that disabling essential cookies may affect website functionality.

7.1 Browser Settings

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can modify your browser settings to decline cookies if you prefer. Here's how to do it for the most common browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
  • Mozilla Firefox: Options → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data

7.2 Deleting Cookies

You can delete all cookies already present on your device. However, this may affect website functionality and you may need to re-enter some information.

8. Cookie Consent

For essential cookies, consent is not required as they are necessary for the service to function. For any non-essential cookies we may introduce in the future:

  • We will request your explicit consent before setting them
  • You can withdraw consent at any time
  • Withdrawing consent will not affect essential website functionality

9. Updates to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy periodically to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Cookie Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.

10. Contact
